Competition Audition Camp

If your dancer is interested in trying out for one of our competition lines, there is a mandatory camp and audition in the summer. During audition camp, dancers will learn combinations in a variety of styles such as lyrical, jazz, hip hop and tap, and then end the week with an audition in front of the Dance Factory staff.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • We will be looking for confidence, drive, potential, and dance technique. We also look at attitude and improvement over the past year.

  • On audition day (Friday), dress code will be all black. Sports bra, leotard, booty shorts/athletic shorts, or fitted tank top. Students will have numbers to wear as well. Wear hair securely pulled back. For the rest of camp, attire is the same except you may wear other colors.

  • If your dancer is doing the full camp, please send them with a healthy lunch/dinner (they will have a ½ hour break each day), a healthy snack, and plenty of water. If your dancer is doing the mini camp, send a healthy snack and plenty of water.

  • Be sure to bring all shoes to camp each day. Jazz, Tap, Lyrical (only if you already have them), and ballet. The desk will be staffed for limited hours if you need to purchase any shoes.

  • Be sure to show respect to our instructors at all times. Listen and stay focused in class. Always try your hardest and apply corrections!

Say "Thank You" to your instructor after class!

  • Dance Camp/Auditions is a unique experience as it combines a variety of ages and levels of dancers all day for an entire week! Remember to be kind and courteous not only to your instructors, but also your peers and dancers outside of your age group / level! Make it a point to say "Hi" to someone new that is in a different class than you, each day. Welcome new students to the program! Remember that The Dance Factory is More Than Just Great Dancing!

  • Parent and dancer contracts will be emailed out before camp starts. Please read them over, sign them, and either drop them off at the desk this week, or email them to the front desk (dancefactorydesk@gmail.com) by Friday. After auditions, and if we have your signed contracts, we will email out your child’s results within 24-48 hours. We will be going over the contracts in class with the students in September as well.

  • We will be doing a NEW PARENT meeting at the studio to kick off the year, give you important info about the competition program, and answer any questions you have. Please attend if you are new to competition or if you have any questions.
