Finally, as we head into competition season, I want to remind you to breathe :) This can be a stressful time for parents! Here are some tips to help you make this experience the most rewarding it can be:

As parents of young dancers, I wanted to reach out to you and talk about the importance of supporting your dancer at competitions in a healthy and positive way. Dance competitions can be a thrilling and rewarding experience for dancers of all ages, but it's essential that the support they receive from their loved ones is also supportive and nurturing.

I understand that you want to see your dancer do their best and succeed, and that is an admirable goal. However, it is important to remember that the most critical factor in your dancer's success is their mental and emotional well-being. If they are feeling pressured or stressed, it can negatively impact their performance and take away from the joy and excitement of the experience.

Here are some tips on how you can support your dancer in a healthy way:

  1. Be Encouraging: Your dancer needs to feel confident and supported, so be sure to tell them how proud you are of them and how much you believe in their abilities.

  2. Show Interest: Take an active interest in your dancer's competition preparation and ask questions about what they are working on and what they are most excited about.

  3. Stay Positive: Avoid negative comments or criticism and instead focus on the positive aspects of their performance.

  4. Respect Boundaries: Remember that dance competitions can be a very personal experience, so be sure to respect your dancer's boundaries and allow them the space they need to prepare and perform.

  5. Celebrate Success: No matter the outcome, celebrate your dancer's success and the effort they have put into preparing for the competition.

By following these tips, you can ensure that your dancer feels supported and valued, and has the most FUN!

Enjoy your week!
