3/14/2022 Competition and Performing Line Updates!

I hope you had a wonderful spring break!

We are back to class on Monday!

Act 1 competition - Wow this is a long weekend, starting on Thursday and ending late Sunday night. Whew! Also, our neighbors down the street will be there, make sure you say hi to your Forest Lake friends and cheer them on! THIS COMPETITION IS FOR ALL SMALL GROUPS, AND SOLOS/DUETS/TRIOS IF YOU SIGNED UP IN THE FALL.

Also, our Darby's Dancers will be there!! Make sure you cheer extra loud if you are there when they dance!

Recital tickets - go on sale next Saturday, 3/18 at 8AM! Link will be on our website.

Security and room helper for recital - Sign ups are out at the front desk for you to sign up to earn account credit!

CHANGE TO SUMMER OFFERING -Banuet week 6/20-23 - Instead of having this be a semi-private training (which was VERY expensive), we are changing this to a class. Here are the details:

6/20-23

9-11AM (ages 7-10)

11:15-1:15 (ages 11-up)

Cost: $225/week/person

The classes are updated online.

State Fair job opportunity for ages 15-up - One of our former DF families owns the Perfect Pickle stand at the State Fair. They are looking for teens to work at the 2022 Fair. The flyer is attached. Both of my kids worked last summer and had a blast!

HELP FOR UKRAINE! - In 2017, Alisa Bolotnikova, from the Ukraine, was our professional ballerina instructor for the Moscow Ballet (picture attached). She is collecting supplies/gift cards/money to send over. She thankfully came to the US 2 months ago to start training with Moscow Ballet so she is safe. We will be making cards in classes this week, and collecting Amazon gift cards. Anything helps! If you are interested in donating, please drop off gift cards at the front desk this week and next week and I will send them to Alisa.

Recital Parent/Child routine - Do you want to dance with your child at the recital? This is our recital-only Parent-Child dance. Practices will be:

10 year students - You will be opening all of our shows on recital day!!! Your practices will be from 11:45-12:30PM on 3/19, 4/2, 4/16, and 5/7. NEW CLASS! Dance Cirque Circus class - Ages 6-9 and 10-up. Students will learn to use aerial silks, juggling, hoop, and lyra. We will also incorporate flexibility and balance. Registration is OPEN! Competition Audition Camp and Intensive Week - These are up on the website for you to register for! Summer packets will officially go out in 2 weeks, but if you want to get a head start on your summer planning, you may register NOW for Audition camp and Intensive week and SAVE. Early Bird discounts run through 3/31.

Intensive Week is a GREAT way for your dancer to get their required summer hours in. It will be 5/23-26 and include many guest teachers!

About our tap teacher Time Brickey from Chicago! Time Brickey is a tap dancer, musician, and generally entertaining guy from Chicago. He is a company member of M.A.D.D. Rhythms and a collaborator with the Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s Stone Soup Rhythms. Time has performed in Dance for Life Chicago, the Stomping Grounds Festival, JUBA!, and as a soloist at the Billy Strayhorn Centennial, where the Chicago Tribune described him as a “Literal Loose Cannon.” Time was featured tap dancing on 91.1 Vocalo with DJ Ayana Contreras for Reclaimed Soul in The Parks, and in the Jeff award winning production of 42nd St. at Drury Lane Theatre in Oakbrook. Time is also a frequent collaborator with Cabinet of Curiosity, recently performing in Tabletop Tragedies for two sold-out runs. (Bio as of 2020)
